CST1: Craniosacral Therapy 1
COURSE DESCRIPTION

Craniosacral Therapy 1 is an introduction to the structure and function of the craniosacral system, its significance of the craniosacral mechanism in health and pathology, and its therapeutic value. Participants will learn through direct palpation how to identify and assess the subtle inherent craniosacral motions. Participants will learn to palpate the craniosacral rhythm, to detect normal and restricted motion and to perform selected interventions to restore or improve osseous and nonosseous mobility. Craniosacral Therapy is used to enhance circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, reduce motion restrictions, and relieve pain and dysfunction through the influence of the craniosacral mechanism on the nervous, lymphatic, vascular, musculoskeletal, respiratory and endocrine systems. CST techniques are used to treat a variety of diagnoses to achieve outstanding results in clinical practice.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the anatomy and physiology of the craniosacral system
  2. Discuss the theoretical basis for the production of the cranial pulse
  3. Identify characteristics of the cranial motion in normal and pathological conditions
  4. Evaluate craniosacral motion at multiple sites in the body
  5. Identify types of craniosacral motion barriers by direct palpation
  6. Utilize direct and indirect techniques to release motion restrictions in the craniosacral system
  7. Discuss indications and contraindications for craniosacral therapy
  8. Utilize craniosacral therapy as part of a therapeutic program to improve circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, restore tissue mobility, improve circulation, relieve pain and promote optimal function of the craniosacral system and the multiple physiological systems it influences
